"Little Thistle Brewery takes root in Rochester" (11.29.17)
Steve Finnie points out a falcon diving across the Douglas State Trail. We’re standing on a loading dock, one of 22 such docks that ring this 5,200-square-foot building, surveying the dead end of 14th Street NW in a light industrial corridor of Rochester, Minnesota.
“A lot of people in Minnesota and around the country are doing the warehouse feel for a brewery,” he says. “Originally, we looked at this space and Dawn didn’t think it was anything special.”
"Heard on the Street: Finnie locks down home for his future brewery" (11.24.17)
Rochester brewer Steve Finnie is a step closer to launching the Med City's fifth craft brewery with a purchase of a northwest warehouse.
Finnie and his wife, Dawn Finnie, bought a 5,200-square-foot warehouse at 2031 14th St NW earlier this week.
"It's a go. It's just a matter of assembling a team and pulling everything together now," said the Scotland native. "We're still in the very early stages of deciding on a name, a logo and all of that stuff, but now we have the space."
"Finnie's got hops" (9.28.17)
Steve Finnie is taking his passion for beer to new heights.
The Rochester beer maker is finalizing plans for what will become the city's fifth brewery. In an interview this week, Finnie said he has already found a space and hopes to open by next summer
"We want it to be community-based," said Finnie. "We want it to be a space where anyone is welcome. Because it really is about community. Yes, you’re brewing beer. But it’s really about people coming together, and talking, and meeting new people."
